Founded in 1989 and with a membership of over 4,500, the ATT is a leading professional body for those providing tax compliance services and related activities in the UK. Members are qualified by examination and practical experience to assist individuals and businesses in complying with their tax obligations.
Tax Practice includes tax compliance work, namely the preparation of the tax returns that corporate and individual taxpayers must file. The primary objective of the Association is to provide an appropriate qualification for individuals who undertake such work. Those who meet the membership requirements have their qualification recognised by use of the title of Taxation Technician and the designatory letters ATT and are eligible to sit the examination for membership of the Chartered Institute of Taxation.
Tax Technicians typically give advice on current business and personal transactions and keep clients up to date on tax matters. Tax Technicians generally spend significant time focussed on assisting clients with compliance matters, ie completing tax reporting requirements such as tax returns which have to be submitted to the Inland Revenue.
You can study for your ATT qualification after success at GCSE level or equivalent.
